Coffee goes Wild

This is the year I’d been thinking about since 2000: my son would graduate from high school. It was worth everything to me to find a way to spend some text-free time together before he heads off to the next chapter of his life (one that involves less of me I expect). The Nahanni River had beckoned for several decades and so off we went on a rafting expedition, camping and hiking 200km from nowhere, north of 60.

I forgot to bring the coffee. Well, truthfully, we packed our gear with size and weight restrictions in mind and the coffee just refused to fit. Fortunately our outfitters were foodies and prepared healthy meals and micro-roasted coffee. They prepared our morning coffee by heating water on the fire in a large sooty pot, even measuring the coffee before pouring it into a thermos! River Roast coffee! One large strong coffee before packing up our gear and I was good for the day.
